Embodying the Holy: A Prayer for Presence Without Crutches

When we speak of being embodied, it often conjures images of deep spiritual experience, of feeling the weight of life’s mysteries and the intensity of our emotions. But I am learning that embodiment does not have to mean heaviness. Instead, embodiment can be a gentle, sacred lightness, a sense of being fully present, alive, and connected without carrying a burden.
To be embodied is to be home within yourself. It means feeling the rise and fall of your breath, sensing the heartbeat beneath your skin, and honoring your emotions and thoughts as they come, without needing to run, escape, or mask what’s happening inside.
In this state, even the simplest moments become holy. The warmth of sunlight on your face, the laughter of your children, the quiet stillness between breaths; these are not just ordinary occurrences, but invitations to grace, healing, and joy.
This is my prayer today: to be there, in that sacred space of presence and wholeness, as often as possible. And to do so without relying on anything outside of myself. No substances to take me there, no distractions to numb or escape.
Just the radiant truth of my own being, unfolding in perfect rhythm, steady, grounded, and free.
May we all learn to live from that place, as vessels of love, lights of grace, and witnesses to the holy in everyday life.
